Whether you are preparing for your new arrival and want to make sure your freezer is well stocked, or you’re just looking for a great resource for freezer prepping, look no further!
With about nine weeks left until our baby boy arrives, I knew I needed to get ready. All of my friends have told me how hard it can be to make sure you’re getting in enough calories in those first few weeks between nursing, changing diapers, and barely sleeping. A dear friend of mine also said that breakfast was the hardest for her to make sure she got in, so I decided smoothie packs were an essential part of this prep. But when I took to Pinterest, I was overwhelmed. All of the preps I found out there were either incomplete (didn’t contain shopping list or recipes) or required you to visit multiple different pages via links in order to find any actual recipes at all.
So, that is when I decided I needed to create my own resource. And of course, I wanted to share that information with you!
I also knew that I wanted to stock the freezer in a way that allowed us a variety in meals. I didn’t want a ton of casseroles, or crock pot meals. I wanted options. I am the kind of person who gets bored with food easily, so I knew if I was going to put in the work, that I needed to make sure it was food I was actually going to enjoy.
So, after gathering recipes from all over the internet, I have compiled this guide for you. I do feel bad, as I do not know the origin of most of these recipes (some are originals or adaptations of my own recipes) to give credit where credit is due.
My goal was to create one easy document that included not only what the meals were, but also a shopping list for everything (instead of trying to add up ingredients from multiple recipes yourself) and a list of all of the recipes, all available in one place. This guide is a one stop shop for this freezer prep. There’s no need to calculate how many pounds of ground beef, or flip over to another browser for the next recipe. Everything you need, is right here. I also wanted to make it a PDF instead of just another blog post, because then I can easily print the guide itself. I don’t know about you, but when I’m cooking, I don’t want to have my laptop out, or keep referring to my phone. I want to be able to look at the recipe without the added mess of making sure my computer doesn’t die.
And to be honest, this isn’t a resource just for new moms! This could be used at any time to stock your freezer (and those lactation bites are a delicious snack for anyone!). Whether you are someone who prefers a well stocked freezer instead of cooking from scratch on a regular basis, or you’re trying to save money by batch cooking.. this guide is for you!
So…. you’re probably wondering what you’ll get with this freezer prep. Listed below are the meals you will be making, and you can see in the guide, I have paired them up with sides you can purchase to make complete meals:
- Tacos (2)
- Spaghetti (2)
- Sloppy Joe’s
- Ravioli Lasagna
- Barbacoa Beef Tacos
- Orange Ginger Chicken (2)
- Crispy Cheddar Chicken
- Chicken Fajitas
- Cheesy Taco Bake
- Southwestern Chicken and Rice
Not only do you get the 13 meals listed above (plus any leftovers, depending on how many people you have eating each meal), you also will get pizza pockets for an easy lunch, smoothie packs for easy breakfasts (just blend with water!), and lactation bites for a simple snack (and remember, these really can be eaten by anyone, not just an expectant mother!).
I truly hope that you enjoy this freezer prep and that it helps you through those first few weeks of motherhood as it will help me.
